Bruce Schneier’s Talk on Conceptualizing Security
While at LISA earlier this year, I had the pleasure of hearing Bruce Schneier’s, Chief Security Technology Officer of British Telecom, talk on conceptualizing security. I found his talk to be abstract yet practical, and most of all intriguing. He speaks about some examples and misnomers such as peoples misconceptions about security, which Schneier calls “Security Theater” and how the media, corporations and government use this psychological measure to twist the way certain concepts about society and people are presented to the general public. Schneier’s talk would be interesting for anybody, not only technical people, and I encourage for you to read more on the LISA blog here: http://lisa.usenix.org/2008/12/15/bruce-schneier-speaks-on-conceptualizing-security-at-lisa-2008/
