Pycon 2010 Frank Wierzbicki Lead Jython Developer
Frank Wierzbicki, Lead Developer for the Jython Project and Lead Developer at Sauce Labs, was speaking with me about his upcoming talks at the PyCon conference. Wierbicki will be giving a keynote speech at Pycon on the state of Jython, and a talk on Extending Applications with Jython.
On Friday, February 19, I have a 30 minute talk on extending Java
applications with Jython. I’ll be discussing the options available
for integrating Jython and Java code. Interacting with Java code is
still the most common reason to use Jython. It handles this task
very well, so if your preferred language is Python and you need to
manipulate some Java libraries, Jython is a very good choice. I will
also talk about some Java specific deployment options, such as
deploying your Jython application as a jar file, which is a common
way to deploy Java applications. On Sunday, February 21, I have a 15 minute keynote slot to
discuss the current state of Jython. I’ll cover where Jython stands
as an implementation of Python, and I’ll discuss the planned road-map for Jython’s future.-Frank Wierbicki
Jython (formerly JPython) is an implementation of the Python programming language which is designed to run on the Java(tm) Platform.
The Recently Released Jython Book is available online as well as in bookstores
